Me
This blog is about my life and the guys in it. Husband Doug, step-son Brett, and son Rob. Just the not-so-exciting life of a working mom.

Big Brother Hugs
I had a nice visit with Kevin today. He has been in Canton, Ohio working and was nice enough to take time to drive down to see us. We sat inside and visited for a while, grilled a very late lunch and then sat outside and visited some more. It was so nice just to sit and catch up on what his family is doing. I really hated to see him leave. I had to hit him up for a second hug before he left - there is just something special about getting big brother hugs.

Busy Young Man
Rob had a fantastic time on his 8th Grade trip to Washington DC. He was exhausted and had some good stories to tell. He was home for a week and now he is out of town again. Rob is still in Middle School be he was asked to march in the High School Marching Band this past year and absolutely loves it. He is now in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Marching Pioneers will be marching in the Parade of Bands at the Indy 500 race tomorrow. The band is staying at a hotel with a water park. They had dinner at a Hard Rock Cafe last night and will attend a reception for all of the bands this evening. Tomorrow the band members will be up before the sun and prepare to march on the race track.
It all sounds like fun. Maybe too much fun. Junior and Senior high school girls are "cougars" in my eyes. And they will be in swimming suits. School activities are meant to be educational but not that educational.

I Miss My Baby
OK, Rob is fourteen and almost 5'9" tall but he is, and always will be, my baby. Early Monday morning Rob left on this Eighth Grade school trip to Washington DC. Each evening the students are given their cell phones so they can call home for a few minutes and it sounds like he is having a blast. A couple of the adults have been tweeting about what they are doing and things the kids have said. My favorite quote so far is, "I definitely miss my cell phone more than I miss my parents." I could see Rob saying that - typical teen. The students should arrive home Friday night and I can't wait to hug my boy.

First Attempt
This is my first attempt at creating a blog. I want to share what is going on in my family and I want to create an easy way to keep family members informed when Doug is deployed overseas this fall. So please be patient as I fumble my way through the blogging process.
